Of course Rottweilers are sweet dogs, just look at the size of their hearts.
Buttercup had the misfortune to have this image taken on Monday evening after being stuck (apparently) by a car or truck. She spent about a day in the hospital and is at home resting. Nothing was broken, and she had few scrapes and scratches.
The primary concern is for her right lung. We will be going back for more x-rays tomorrow to make sure she is getting better.
No matter how much is read to Kodiak he still shows little sign of being able to read on his own. This is one of the nice young people who read to Kodiak when we visit the New Lebanon Public Library. (Photo by Jeannie Bogino the library Director.)
If you would like to know more about training your dog to be a therapy dog, you can find out at Therapy Dogs International.
I have been meaning to post about Kodiak's volunteer activities, and I really wanted to show a picture. Due to privacy concerns, I don't think I can show him interacting with patients. He loves to visit the veterans, and many of them really enjoy the short time he spends with them each week.
At the end of each visit he gets to go to the lab, where the staff loves dogs and they keep a over abundance of doggy treats to share with their visitors.
This photo was taken by one of the staff there, and she was kind enough to get us a copy. You can see he is clearly pleased to be visiting the lab, where he has figured out the treat thing.
I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am.
Tail (as it were, so to speak) wagging Item #1:
The Daily Oliver has a tag "Corleone", which if you glance at the title of my blog you should be able figure out why it makes me smile, errr wag my tail.
Tail (as it were, so to speak) wagging Item #2:
Yesterday I spoke to a very nice person at the AKC who will help me get Buttercup registered without getting on a bazzilion mailing lists and <shudder> free samples of Insurance. (Just thinking about that concept makes my tail stop wagging.)
I was glad that the first time I spoke to a person at AKC that the person I spoke to was nice and helpful to boot.
